Woods in charge at Cadillac

Seventeen birdies in his opening 36 holes has given Tiger Woods the lead at the WGC Cadillac Championship at the Doral Resort and Spa near Miami.
Woods who won this event in 2006 at this venue has also won the Ford Championship over the Blue Monster layout on three occasions and today he further confirmed his liking for the southern Florida facility to lead by two over Graeme McDowell and by three over Phil Mickelson and Steve Stricker.
Graeme McDowell took the early clubhouse lead but more than two hours later Woods completed a second round of 65 to establish the two shot cushion.
John Senden’s consecutive rounds of 69 give him the lead amongst the Australians although New Zealander Mike Hendry, fresh from his New Zealand PGA Championship victory five days ago, is also well place at 6 under where he shares 10th position with Senden.
Jason Day recovered from a horror first round 74 with a second round of 66 to be at 4 under and in a share of 27th.
