Kristie Smith leads Aussies in China

BY Bruce Young | 09 Mar 2013

Kristie Smith is the best of the Australians after 36 holes of the grandly named but hardly realistic World Ladies Championship at Mission Hills on Hainan Island in China.

Smith completed her second round of 70 this morning after a delay yesterday and finds herself in a share of 8th position, six shots behind the leader, Inbee Park.

Park has been one of the standouts in world golf in the past twelve months her incredible consistency being the feature. She is currently the world number four and has finished inside the top two in ten of her last fifteen starts.

Park leads by one over the standout on the Ladies European Tour in 2012, Carlota Ciganda.

Smith appears to be finding some form of late having finished runner-up at the recent Victorian Open and 6th at the NSW Open.

Stephanie Na is the next best of the Australians in a share of 19th at 2 under par and nine shots behind the leader.
