Woods wins Cadillac but Scott impresses

BY Bruce Young | US PGA Tour | 2013 WGC Cadillac Championship | Wrap | 11 Mar 2013

Tiger Woods continued his remarkable run on golf courses he dominates with a two shot victory over Steve Stricker at the WGC Cadillac Championship at the Doral Resort and Spa in Miami.

Woods often wins on the same courses venues such as Bay Hill, Torrey Pines, Firestone Country Club and now the Blue Monster providing many of his PGA Tour victories

For Woods the Blue Monster layout has now yielded four victories, two at the Ford Championship and now two WGC Cadillac Championships.

Two late bogeys perhaps flattered those who finished in his wake as Woods had controlled the event from the halfway stage and extended his lead to five during today’s final round before the faltering finish.

Adam Scott, in just his third event of 2013, improved each day, his final round of 64 the best of the day but only by one over the 65 by a relieved Rory McIlory.

Scott finished in a share of third position with Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia and Graeme McDowell.

McIlory overcame a slow start to finish 8th, his bogey free final round of 65 an indication that the early season troubles he has been experiencing may be a thing of the past.

John Senden was 20th, Jason Day 33rd, Geoff Ogilvy 47th and Marcus Fraser 60th.

New Zealander Mike Hendry who started the event well slipped away over the weekend to finish 58th.
