Tseng chasing first win in 11 months

Having completed its three event swing through Australia and Asia, the LPGA Tour begins its domestic schedule this week with the staging of the R.R. Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup at the Wildfire Golf Club in Phoenix in Arizona.
Yani Tseng gets the chance to win her first tournament in nearly twelve months when she targets a successful defence of the event she defeated Na Your Choi and Ai Miyazato by one shot last year.
Tseng was a little disappointing at her last start in Singapore but at both the Australian Open and the Honda LPGA Thailand event she finished inside the top three and is expected to be a factor again this week.
Na Yeon Choi has again been solid in her two starts this season having finished 7th in Thailand and runner-up in Singapore and if she and Tseng were to finish one, two again this week then few would be surprised.
Stacy Lewis won in Singapore two weeks ago, her fifth LPGA Tour victory in twelve months and finished third in Thailand. By her standards she has not played this event well in her two starts but she is in great form and might could make it two in a row.
Speaking of form there have been few players in recent years who could boast the consistency of Inbee Park. Park has won four times and been eleven times runner-up in events during the past twelve months and although she could manage only a 26th place finish in this event last year it would be a surprise if she was not contending again.
Suzann Pettersen won her last start in China but it was against a weaker field than she faces this week and a player more likely to contend this week is So Yeon Ryu who finished 4th in this event last year and who finished 3rd in Thailand at her last start.
Karrie Webb won this event in 2011 and although her form since her victory at Royal Pines has been below her best she might just go well on a golf course on which she has experienced success previously.
Katherine Hull Kirk is in the field and Lindsey Wright completes the Australians, Wright making a welcome return to tournament golf following an injury break.
