Glover leads Zurich - Guan makes cut

Former US Open Champion Lucas Glover leads the Zurich Classic of New Orleans through the halfway mark, the 33 year old chasing his fourth PGA Tour victory first in two years.

Glover, currently ranked 263 in the world has recorded only one top ten in his last 44 starts on the PGA Tour, that coming at the recent Honda Classic so there were indications things were improving but then came three missed cuts in his last four starts so a performance such as this was not exactly expected.

Seventeen birdies in his first 36 holes however is an indication his game is on song this week.

Glover leads by one over Boo Weekley who has had a solid season missing only one cut to date and finishing runner-up at the Tampa Bay Championship but interestingly that has been his only top twenty. he has played this event well on occasions in the past so could go on with it.

Pre tournament favourite Justin Rose is poised in a share of 6th position five shots from the lead.

14 year old Guan Tianlang continues to stun US audiences, the Chinese amateur star making yet another cut after his historic performance at Augusta national two weeks ago.

Guan added a round of 69 to his opening 72 to be in 57th position and safely make his way to the weekend.

Matt Jones leads the Australians in 12th position and six shots from the lead while Stuart Appleby and Steven Bowditch are next best in 36th position.
