Sectional qualifying for the 2013 US Open at Merion in Philadelphia was completed today at eleven venues across the USA and as a result three further Australians one New Zealander now have starts in the event.

When play gets underway on June 13th, therefore, nine Australians and two New Zealanders will tee it up.

The already exempt Adam Scott, Jason Day, John Senden, Geoff Ogilvy Marc Leishman and Marcus Fraser have been joined today by Alistair Presnell, Mathew Goggin and Aaron Baddeley while New Zealander Michael Campbell, exempt as a result of his 2005 US open victory, is joined by Steve Alker who gained his start when securing one of six places available at a California venue today.

Presnell won his place in the field in Memphis this morning, Goggin in Rockville In Maryland and Baddeley in Columbus in Ohio.

Baddeley survived an eleven way playoff for five remaining spots and will get to play his 8th US Open. He has missed the cut in five of his first seven although in 2007 he led into the final round before finishing 13th.

Presnell gets to play his second US Open after a sterling effort at Olympic last year where he contended for much of round two before finishing 29th. In his rookie PGA Tour season this year Presnell has struggled all season, missing seven of his last eight cuts so a start in this event will hopefully rekindle his form.

Goggin will play his 4th US Open having missed the cut in two of his other three. Goggin is currently in 14th position on the Web.Com Tour money lis.

Steve Alker will play his first US Open.
