City of MacKay begins lucrative series

As Queensland’s Sunshine Tour gets back to business on its journey through Central Queensland, one of the larger events on its calendar, the M Group City of MacKay Open, is played this week at the MacKay Golf Club.

Following on from the Townsville Pro-Am on Monday, where Henry Epstein and Hamish Robertson shared the honours, and today’s Pro-Am at the Pioneer Lakes Golf Club just outside of MacKay, the City of MacKay Open has attracted a strong field.

This week’s tournament is followed by other lucrative events in Rockhampton and Yeppoon later in the month and the series of events has ensured a gathering of high quality players is in the region.

The City of MacKay Open field includes such players as Asian Tour winners, Darren Beck and Rick Kulacz, OneAsia Tour winner, Nick Cullen and former Japan Tour winners, Scott Laycock and Wayne Perske, along with a host of emerging players, many of whom play the Asian and One Asia Tours which are both in their mid season breaks at present.
