Ewan Porter wins 2005 Australasian Tour Q-School

Sydney’s Ewan Porter has fired a final round 70 to finish in first place on 13 under, six shots clear of American Eric Egloff at the 2005 PGA Tour of Australasia Qualifying School in Victoria today.
Porter, from Sydney’s South shot rounds of 68, 71, 66 and 70 to finish six clear of Egloff and ten clear of fellow Aussies Mark Leishmann and Ben Bunny after the final day’s play at the Peninsula Country Club in Frankston.
Victorian amateur Nigel Stivala finished in fifth place on two under whilst 21-year-old Michael Sim, a former world number one ranked amateur golfer finished in sixth place, continuing an outstanding year which saw him turn professional last month.
Others to make the cut of 35 plus ties include tennis player turned golfer Scott Draper who finished 24th, graduating from Australasian Tour school for the second year running.
The leading 35 players plus ties are now eligible to apply for Full Membership of the PGA Tour and will earn exemption into the 2006 PGA Tour Eligibility Category 11 (The leading 5 players from the 2005 PGA Tour of Australasia Qualifying School) or 14 (Players ranked 6-35 plus those tied for 35th place from the 2005 PGA Tour of Australasia Qualifying School) depending on ranking.
These players will also be eligible to apply for Full Membership of PGA Australia and will earn exemption into 2006 Von Nida Tour Eligibility Category K.
Players ranked 36 – 60 (plus those tied for 60th place) will be eligible to apply for Tournament Membership of PGA Australia and will earn exemption into 2006 Von Nida Tour Eligibility Category P. These players will not be eligible to apply for Membership of PGA TOUR.
