The Web.Com Tour’s regular season schedule comes to an end this week with the staging of the Cox Classic at the Champions Run Golf Club in Omaha in Nebraska.
At the completion of this week’s event, the leading 25 players on the 2013 money list are guaranteed of PGA Tour status in 2014, while the remaining 50 are still in with a chance of graduating via the Web.Com Tour finals.
The leading seventy five players mentioned above will be joined next week at the Hotel Fitness Championship in Fort Wayne in Indiana, by those players finishing between 126th and 200th on the FedEx Cup list for the first of the four Web.Com Tour finals where those who have already qualified for PGA Tour status play to determine their ranking in 2014 and the remaining 100 play for their right to play the PGA Tour full stop.
New Zealanders Tim Wilkinson and Danny Lee are guaranteed to be inside the top 25 by week’s end irrespective of how they perform this week but for Steve Alker (22nd) Ashley Hall (23rd) and Mathew Goggin (24th), their futures in 2014 hang on a knife-edge.
The other money list milestone that will be of importance is to be inside the top 75 on the money list in order that a place in the four event Final series is available.
This week’s event carries one of the richest purses to date on the 2013 Web.Com Tour making it possible for players to make up more ground than would be the case in earlier events.
Other Australians who have an outside chance of making the top 25 are Bronson La Cassie (33rd), Aron Price (67th), Nick Flanagan (70th), Adam Crawford (71st) and James Nitties (73rd).
Other Australians in this week’s field include Gavin Coles, Peter Lonard, Rod Pampling and Nick O’Hern.
