Japan Tour begins stretch of big events

The Japan Tour plays the Vana H Cup KBC Augusta event in the southern Japanese city of Fukuoka this week.
The event will again be played at its long time home at the Keya Golf Club where Korea’s Hyung Sun Kim defends the title he won twelve months ago.
Kim is having another good season in 2013 having won the Japan PGA Championship in May and although he missed the cut last week he will benefit by playing a golf course he has won over.
Japan’s rising superstar and money list leader, Hideki Matsuyama, is not in this week’s field, no doubt planning his schedule to have his ready for the Presidents Cup where after only five months as a professional he has made the team.
Australasians, however, are well represented. Brendan Jones, who has not played competitively since the Open Championship at Muirfield, last week’s winner, Brad Kennedy, Steve Conran, Paul Sheehan, Aaron Townsend, Mike Hendry, David Smail, Kurt Barnes, Richard Tate, James McLean and Ryan Haller will all take their place in the field as the Japan Tour begins a stretch of fourteen events to finish off the season.
