Royal Queensland hosts Aussie Senior

The Australian Senior Amateur Championship begins in blustery conditions at the Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane today with local golfer Sam Christie looking to defend the title he won at Yarra Yarra in Melbourne last year.
The event, originally a match play event, is now played over 54 holes of stroke-play has been played since 1981.
Players such Tony Gresham, Stefan Albaniski, Denis Dale and New Zealander Rodney Baltrop have been multiple winners in recent years.
Albaniski from the Mona Vale Golf Club, and Dale, from Twin Creek’s in Sydney’s west, are the current number one and two in Australian Senior Amateur golf.
Players 55 year and over are eligible to compete in the event.
The event is also a fore-runner to the Trans Tasman match, The Sanctuary Cove Trophy, between Australia and New Zealand next week at the Sanctuary Cove Golf Club.
