Things get tense at Web.Com Tour Finals

Things are tightening up in the race for the right to play the PGA Tour in 2014 and the one place where most can earn that right takes another step this week when the Nationwide Childrens Hospital Championship is played at the Ohio University Golf Club’s Scarlet layout in Columbus in Ohio.
With just this event and the Web.Com Tour Championship in two weeks time remaining before the 50 2014 PGA Tour cards are handed out then much is on the line for those players not yet assured of a place on the big stage next year.
Twenty five of those cards are already decided but they are still subject to ranking based on where they finish in the four event final series. The other twenty five will be allotted to the leading twenty five players not otherwise qualified via the Web.Com Tour season.
Trevor Immelman and Andrew Svoboda head the accumulated money list following their respective victories in Indiana and North Carolina.
Others who have staked what appears to be a successful claim as a result of their money list ranking over the first two events are Patrick Cantlay, Will MacKenzie, John Peterson, and Scott Gardiner.
Bronson La’Cassie is the only Australian to have gained a card via the season long money list while Gardiner is now all but assured of a return to the PGA Tour following his 3rd place finish in the opening event of the finals.
New Zealanders Danny Lee and Tim Wilkinson are also on their way to the big time.
Other Australians in this week’s field are Adam Crawford, Mathew Goggin, Nick O’Hern, Rod Pampling, Aron Price, Nick Flanagan, Nathan Green, Cameron Percy, Ashley Hall and Alistair Presnell.
One good week, perhaps a top four, either this or next week, should be good enough to get the job done for any of those outside of La’Cassie and Gardiner both of who can begin preparing for a year on the PGA Tour.
