Brad Il-jin took the clubhouse lead when he carded a brilliant seven-under-par 65 in the first round of the Asian Tour 2006 Qualifying School in Johor today.

He was three strokes ahead of Englishman Ben Mason at the wet and rainy conditions at Tanjong Puteri Golf and Country Club’s Village Course in Pasir Gudang, Johor.

England’s Iain Parnaby, American John Ohye and Australian Adam Porker shoot 66 each as they were the lowest scorers at the Tanjong Puteri Golf and Country Club’s Straits Course.

A total of 27 players from the Straits and 27 players from the Village Course were unable to complete due to fading lights and will resume the first round tomorrow.

It was a three-way battle at the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club in Senai, Johor when South African duo of Barry Hume and Hendrik Alberts together with Ireland’s Edmund Barr scored 66 each for the lowest scores at the Allamanda Course.

Korean duo of Park Jun-won and Dok Rea-noh carded 67s at the Cempaka Course while local youngster Anis Helmi Abu shot a 74 and was in tied 41st.
