Wright on course at Asian Q-School

Michael Wright of Australia took the clubhouse lead when he struck a four-under-par 68 in the third round of the Asian Tour 2006 Qualifying School Stage One in Johor today.

Wright continued to lead the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club’s Cempaka Course for the second straight day when he scored a three-day total of 203. He extended his lead when second placed Korean Park Jun-won scored a 206 while teammate Dok Rea-noh dropped a spot to third on 207.

Kevin Stone of South Africa stood tall on 204 as he goes into the fourth round with a two stroke lead over Australian duo of Ewan Porter and Anthony Brown at the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club’s Allamanda Course. Japan’s Kazuhiro Yamashita was in fifth position when he carded a 69 to a total of 208.

American Eric Wang led the Tanjong Puteri Golf and Country Cub’s Village Course on 207 and has a steady three stroke lead over Japanese Sushi Ishigaki. Countryman Masayoshi Nakayama struck a a 205 and was tied for the lead with fellow Japanese Yuuki Satou and Sweden’s Mats Pilo at the Straits Course.

Golfers who make the cut from Stage One will proceed to the 2006 Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage which will be held at the Palm Resort next week where players will battle for the 40 tour cards at stake.
