Victorian Heath Reed tops Asian Q-School

Heath Reed reigned supreme when he carded a one-over-par 73 in the fourth round of the Asian Tour 2006 Qualifying School Stage One in Johor today.
The Australian achieved the lowest four-day total of 271 at the Tanjong Puteri Golf and Country Club’s Straits Course in Pasir Gudang, Johor. Englishman Lewis Atkinson fired a 65 as he finished third behind countryman Daniel Wardrop who shot a 70.
Meanwhile, Sahal Saedin was the sole-surviving local talent to make the cut for the Final Stage next week when he scored a 73 and finished tied 10th position at the Tanjong Puteri Golf and Country Club’s Village Course in Senai, Johor. He was tied alongside Swedish Lars Johansson who shot a 70 and Japan’s Sushi Ishigaki who was even-par for the day.
Australian Michael Wright finished on top at the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club’s Cempaka Course when he struck a 71 to a total of 274 while South Africa Hendrik Alberts fired a 66 and topped the Allamanda Course.
Only the top 14 finishers and ties from Tanjong Puteri’s Village Course and top 14 and ties from the Straits Course qualified for the Final Stage. At Palm Resort, the top 18 and ties from its Cempaka Course and the top 14 and ties from Allamanda Course booked their spots for the Finals.
The Asian Tour 2006 Qualifying School Final Stage will be held at the Palm Resort next week where players will battle for the 40 tour cards at stake.
