Queenslander Scott Hend has won his second event of the 203 Asian Tour season with a four shot victory at the Mercurie Masters in Chinese Taipei.
On a tough day where only one player would break par, Hend recorded a round of 73 to defeat American Sam Cyr.
Earlier in the season the 40 year old Hend won the Chiangmai Golf Classic and one of the game’s modern day globetrotters has played in Scotland, Italy, Switzerland, Wales, Scotland and Russia in recent weeks while waiting out the mid season Asian Tour break.
The victory was worth US$120,000 to Hend and moves him to second on the Asian Tour money list although nearly US$300,000 behind the current leader Kiradech Aphibarnrat.
With eligibility for all the big events towards the end of the season Hend is potentially sitting on a nest egg given his current form and has the chance to accumulate a lot more money before year’s end.
Matt Stieger was 8th and Lismore’s Sam Brazel, in desperate need of a good finish, was 16th and is now on the cusp of retaining his status.
