The Crocka Foundation, in partnership with DTDigital and the Traralgon Golf Club will hold a 101 Hole Golf Marathon on Friday 6 December 2013 at the Traralgon Golf Course in an effort to raise awareness and money for the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI).
The 101 Hole Golf Marathon is an unprecedented Australian event that presents a unique physical and mental challenge. Up to 54 participants will play 101 consecutive holes of golf in one day, with a number of competitive team and individual formats incorporated into the Marathon.
Teeing off at 5am, participants will cover approximately 45 kilometres over 16 to 18 consecutive hours whilst taming the beautiful Traralgon golf course. The 101 Hole Golf Marathon presents as an extreme event that only the very fit, determined and mentally resilient will be able to complete!
The Crocka Foundation is a Latrobe Valley based charity founded in 2012 by Kylea Williams, in memory of her husband David ‘Crocka’ Williams who passed away on New Year’s Day 2011 aged 35. The cause of death was due to undiagnosed genetic heart conditions called Cardiomegaly and Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis, pre-existing genetic heart conditions that could have been identified and treated through some readily available genetic testing.
The Crocka Foundation aims to “Raise Awareness & Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death” with all monies raised going directly MCRI. The MCRI’s research focuses on discovering the genetic basis of disease and improving awareness, prevention and management of such diseases. Since its launch in November 2012, The Crocka Foundation has raised in excess of $80,000 for the MCRI. For more information about the institute please visit www.mcri.edu.au.
A limited number of registrations ($100 per participant) are still available for the event, as are a number of corporate sponsorship packages.
