23 year old Yoshinori Fujimoto, in just his second season on the Japan Tour, has won his second title with a four shot victory over the considerably more experienced Koumei Oda at the Toshin Tournament near Nagoya.
Despite an opening round of 63 Fujimoto trailed after day one but he took control to lead by two over Oda after round two and by the same margin over the same player through 54 holes. The margin was closed to one when Oda eagled the 9th in today’s final round but the impressive Fujimoto drew away over the closing stages.
Ashun Wu came from a share of 17th overnight with a final round of 63 to finish in a share of 3rd position with Yosuke Tsukada.
Kurt Barnes led the Australasians in a share of 14th although he will be disappointed with his final round of 72. He was tied for third heading into the final day and was very much in need of a good finish as he is currently well outside the to cut off point for retaining playing privileges for 2014 although there are still several events remaining for him to improve.
David Smail was next best in 19th position.
