Cameron Smith misses Web.Com Tour chance

Current Australian Amateur Champion, Cameron Smith, has suffered a setback in his quest to establish a tour on which to play in 2014 when disqualified from the opening round of Stage One at the Web.Com Tour School in Texas.
Smith, who was playing at the Woodlands Golf Club near Houston where he has attended Golf Australia Camps in the past, got his tee times mixed up on day one and as a result never got the opportunity to graduate to the second stage of Web.Com qualifying.
Smith will now return to Australia where he has a start at the Australian PGA and Open Championships and is no doubt hoping that a start at the NSW Open and the Talisker Masters might also come his way.
That would then allow him the opportunity to possibly gain status on the PGA Tour of Australasia and the One Asia Tour although he also has the option of playing the PGA Tour of Australasia Tour School.
The Asian Tour School is another option for Smith and although the talented 20 year old will no doubt be devastated by how events unfolded in Texas it may just be that a year playing internationally will be of benefit to him.
