21 year old Redcliffe golfer Taylor Macdonald has won the Keperra Bowl by a massive nine shots at the Keperra Country and Golf Club, taking the lead after his opening round of 66 and from there it was a case of the further they went the further he went ahead.
He finished off the event with a round of 69 and although there were six players who bettered his final round score on day four, the damage had been done through the opening 54 holes.
Iraqi war veteran and former professional, Damien Jordan, put together a good week to finish runner-up, albeit a long way behind the winner.
Jordan won the Queensland Mid Amateur recently and despite his golfing career being disrupted by his involvement in the military he played well on the Queensland Sunshine Tour during his brief professional career. Now back in the amateur ranks he is beginning to put together several very good events.
Victorian Andrew Schonewille produced the best final round of 66, moving him through the field to finish alone in third position while New Zealander Josh Munn continued his improvement after a slow start to the event to finish in a share of 4th with NSW’s Jordan Zunic and Keperra member Ashley Cosgrove.
Taylor Macdonald and Josh Munn are amongst 12 Australasian golfers who will be heading to China on Monday to play the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship starting next Thursday.
