Webb Simpson lived up to his billing as one of the favourites at the Shiners Hospitals for Children Open, leading the event through 36 holes and never looking back as he won by six over a resurgent Ryo Ishikawa and Jason Bohn with Charley Hoffman on his own in 4th position.
For Simpson it was his fourth PGA Tour title and comes 16 months after his great win at the US Open at Olympic in 2012.
As if boosted by his wildcard selection on the US Presidents Cup team, Simpson looked in complete control all week, the victory taking his earnings for the 2013 year beyond US$4 million although this of course is now season 2014.
Simpson will move from his current 24th to 17th in the world ranking.
Greg Chalmers finished 15th to lead the Australians while Stuart Appleby was 23rd and John Sendne after a great start to the event faded to finish 53rd.
The PGA Tour now moves to Malaysia to play the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur.
