Another chance for Hend at CIMB Classic

The PGA Tour is in Malaysia this week for the CIMB Classic at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club where a great field has been assembled.
The fact that this is now a fully fledged PGA Tour event, although jointly sanctioned with the Asian Tour, with Fed Ex Cup points now awarded and a US$7 million purse has seen a significantly stronger field than has been the case in the past .
Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Keegan Bradley and Nick Watney head the field but the inclusion of Hideki Matsuyama who was forced to withdraw from last week’s event in Las Vegas adds yet another dimension to the field.
Also of interest from an Australian standpoint at least is the inclusion in the field of the very much in form Scott Hend who last week won his third title of the season on the Asian Tour. If the Queenslander is able to replicate the sort of form he has been showing of late then he stands a very good chance of securing a good chunk of the prize-money and perhaps even PGA Tour status if he was to win.
Other Australians in the field are Matt Jones, Marc Leishman, Aaron Baddeley and Wade Ormsby, Ormsby securing a start due to his status on the Asian Tour this season.
