To celebrate the homecoming of Adam Scott, the 2013 Masters Champion and recent recipient of The Don award, the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola will be awash with green on Friday 8th November.
The PGA has announced that the second round of the tournament will be officially known as ‘Wear Green for Adam Scott Day’ providing sports fans with the opportunity to show their pride in Adam Scott’s historic achievement.
“The whole of Australia was buzzing with excitement following Adam’s momentous victory at Augusta National in April,” said Brian Thorburn, CEO of the PGA of Australia.
“This will be Adam’s first tournament back on Australian soil and, with the tournament being played in Adam’s hometown of the Gold Coast, we wanted to provide a welcome home befitting his achievement whilst also giving fans the chance to celebrate.”
Fans attending the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola on ‘Wear Green for Adam Scott Day’ will be encouraged to wear a touch of green or go all out and design costumes that flood RACV Royal Pines Resort in the colour synonymous with the US Masters.
“I have already heard some grand plans for costumes and am looking forward to seeing how Australia congratulates Adam on Friday,” added Thorburn.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate is also throwing his support behind ‘Wear Green for Adam Scott Day.’
“Masters Champion Adam Scott, who will receive the keys to the city on 6 November, is of course our home-grown hero so we’re encouraging people who buy tickets for Friday 8 November to come dressed in green as part of Wear Green for Adam Scott Day,” said Mayor Tate.
“I hope the crowd is awash with a sea of bottle green, full of Adam Scott fans!”
Fans unable to make it to the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola for ’Wear Green for Adam Scott Day’ are encouraged to participate on Friday 8th November via the Australian PGA Championship facebook page and Twitter using #Green4Adam.
Tickets for the tournament are now on sale at www.ticketek.com.au with children 16 years and under admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Discounts are also available for members of RACV and affiliated motoring clubs as well as for Gold Coast residents.
