IN: News | Japan | Japan Open (2002) | Round Four | by Bruce Young | 20 Oct 2002

Half way through the final round of the Japan Open, New Zealander David Smail is on target for his first win on the Japan Tour.

Smail, who shared the lead after fifty four holes, has a one shot lead over Katsuya Nakagawa and by two over South Korean Jong-Duck Kim.

The thirty two year old, who is in his seventh year on the Japan Tour, is having his best year to date currently in twenty fourth place on the money list. A win here in this prestigious event is worth considerably more than just the first place cheque of 24,000,000 yen ($A350,000)
