Lee leads Golf Nippon Series

At the halfway mark of the Golf Nippon Series JT Cup in Mie Prefecture, Korean Kyoung-Hoon Lee has a one shot lead over Japan’s Yusaku Miyazato.

22 year old Lee, whose only win in Japan came nearly 18 months ago, recorded a best round of the day 64, to grab the lead off Miyazato who was one of the first round leaders.

The pre tournament favourite for the event, Hideki Matsuyama, who won last week’s Casio World Open, was forced to withdraw on Thursday morning as a result if ill health.

Brad Kennedy, the only Australian in the field, is in a share of 26th position in the 30 man field while New Zealander Michael Hendry is in last position after 75 and 79.

Hendry will still earn last place money in the event irrespective of what happens over the weekend and that should be sufficient for him to retain his status on the Japan Golf Tour.
