The Greg Norman Junior Masters today completed 54 holes of its 72 holes, today’s third round played at Palmer Gold Coast (formerly Robina Woods) on the Gold Coast of Queensland.

With two earlier rounds played over the nearby Palmer Colonial layout (formerly Colonial Golf Club) and Wednesday’s fourth and final round at the Palmer Coolum Resort (formerly Hyatt Regency Coolum) today was important for those players hoping to make the cut off to earn the right to travel to the Sunshine Coast.

Pre tournament favourite in the 17 and Under Boys, Jack Sullivan, produced a round of 68 at what is effectively his home club today to take a one shot lead in his division over Royal Queensland’s Blake Proverbs with a further two shots back to Sanctuary Cove’s Young Kim.

In the 17 and Under Girls the tearaway leader through 36 holes Amy Walsh had some of her lead cut back but as they head to Coolum the Emerald Lakes golfer still leads by seven shots over Jiwon Jeon of the Hills Golf Club. The round of the day, however, came from Maryborough’s Kate Law whose round of 67 was the best of the day by four shots.

Law moved into 3rd position although 12 shots from Walsh.

The 15 and Under Boys Royal Fremantle’s Minwoo Lee has opened up a seven shot lead over Darwin’s Josh Hetherington while in the girls division of the same age group it is Karis Davidson of Sanctuary Cove who leads by three over Shelley Shin of Concord in Sydney.

The 13 and Under Boys Christian Butterworth of Peregian Springs has a one shot lead over Ben Stieler of Brookwater while in the girls division of the same age, China’s Qi Tian has opened up a six shot lead over Concord’s Doey Choi.

129 of the original 224 players will head north tomorrow to prepare for the fourth and final round at Coolum on Wednesday.
