Greg Norman Junior Masters winners
Junior Golf Tour | 2013 Greg Norman Junior Masters | Wrap | 19 Dec 2013
Jiwon Jeon of Hills International has won the 2013 Greg Norman Junior Masters Girls’ Championship at Palmer Coolum Golf Club in exciting fashion.
Her total of 293 (+6) was enough to place herself in a playoff with Karis Davidson (Sanctuary Cove).
Both players had pars on the first playoff hole and had to go back up the 322 metre par-4 18th for a second time. They again found the fairway, but it was Davidson who faulted early after going long into the back bunker while Jeon found the green.
Davidson nearly holed her sand shot, but it was Jeon first in the hole after rolling her putt to two feet and then sinking her fourth shot for par. It was up to Davidson to sink her putt and extended the play off however Davidson was unable to capitalise and missed the putt, handing Jeon victory.
The Boys’ Championship went to Queensland Junior State Team player and the overnight leader Jack Sullivan (Palmer Gold Coast) who finished at six-under on 281 following an even par 72 on the Coolum layout.
He won by three shots from Royal Queensland member Blake Proverbs after he fired a two over par round of 74 to finish on 284 (-3).
In the Representative Team Category, China won the International Teams event, Queensland took out the Interstate Teams, Gold Coast Association winning the Queensland Inter-District Teams with the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation taking out the Inter-Foundation Teams event.
This year’s event was the 23rd playing of the Greg Norman Junior Masters which 224 junior golfers participated over the three Palmer Golf venues on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts – Palmer Colonial, Palmer Gold Coast and Palmer Coolum.
