In the days leading into the tournament the intensely hot spell experienced in South East Queensland over the past few days threatened to jeopardise the event but storms on Monday evening took the heat out of the region.
The leader in the Boys division after round is Townsville golfer Justin Morley who recorded an opening round of 74 to be one ahead of pre tournament favourite Anthony Quayle of the Hills International and Tasmania's, Jack Tregaskisja.
