Quarter Finals reached at Aussie Amateur

The Quarter Finalists have been decided in both the men’s and women’s divisions of the Australian Amateur Championships at the Grange Golf Club in Adelaide.
Two Victorians, Zach Murray and Todd Sinnott face each other in the first of the Quarter Finals to be played on Saturday morning ahead of the Semi Finals in the afternoon.
Murray eliminated Blake Windred of NSW in this morning’s second round before defeating the exciting teenager Ryan Ruffels in this afternoon’s Round of 16.
Sinnott accounted for Jarrod Freeman of NSW in his morning encounter before eliminating New South Welshman Jordan Zunic in the afternoon.
The leading remaining qualifier, American David Snyder, will take on West Australian Curtis Luck after he secured victories against Queenslander Anthony Quayle and New Zealander Blair Riordan.
Luck got through after defeating Master of the Amateurs winner Simon Viitakangas in the morning then Victorian Geoff Drakeford in their afternoon match.
On the other side of the draw American Max Buckley takes on 19 year old New Zealander Tae Koh, Buckley defeating the ACT’s Allan Haughie and NSW’s Grant Booth to advance while Koh defeated fellow New Zealanders Hayden Beard and Brad Hayworth.
In the final of the Quarter Final Matches local golfer and two time Australian Boys Champion Anthony Murdaca tackles China Open Amateur Champion Cameron Davis of NSW after Murdaca had eliminated Thomas Power-Horan then Queenslander Josh Kalms. Davis defeated Matthew Wittenberg of NSW then Australia’s leading ranked amateur Taylor MacDonald to reach to Quarters.
The Women’s draw sees New Zealander Chantelle Cassidy against Queenslander Karis Davidson, Victorian Su Hyun Oh tackle Adelaide’s Jenny Lee, defending champion Minjee Lee against fellow West Australian, Jayde Panos, and Spain’s Luna Sobron against NSW’s Shelley Shin.
The Quarter and Semi Finals are to be played on Saturday before the 36 hole final on Sunday
