Holmqvist wins Mt Broughton Classic

BY Bruce Young | 20 Jan 2014

Sweden’s Daniela Holmqvist has taken out the 2014 Mount Broughton Classic with a two shot win over New South Welshwoman Sarah Kemp with Englishwoman Trish Johnson and the in form Frenchwoman Joanna Klatten tied for 4th.

Kemp produced the best round of the 36 hole event when she reeled off a second round 66 but just failed to catch the first round leader and eventual winner, Holmqvist, who has been a professional now for just over twelve months following a collegiate career at the University of California.

The Swiss born but now Swedish resident is here to play the remaining events on the ALPG schedule including today’s Renault Ladies Pro Am followed by the Women’s Bing Lee New South Wales Open beginning Friday, the ISPS Handa New Zealand Open, the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters and the Australian Women’s Open subject to her gaining a start in that event. She enjoys only conditional LPGA Tour status.
