Day and Leishman start well

Marc Leishman and Jason Day have made encouraging starts to the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines near San Diego in California, the pair in a share of 3rd position and two shots behind the first round leader, Stewart Cink.
Both players played the easier North Course and will therefore play the famed South Course tomorrow, in fact only one of the leading 16 players after round one played the South Course today.
Both Leishman and Day have history at Torrey Pines, Leishman having finished runner-up in this particular event in 2010 and 9th in 2011 while Day was 9th last year after a final round of 66 and won the World Junior Championship at Torrey Pines in 2004.
The leader, Cink, has not won on the PGA Tour since his playoff victory over Tom Watson at the Open Championship in 2009 but a back nine of 31 today has him well place to at least contend over the next few days.
Steven Bowditch is the next best of the Australians in 10th place after his opening round of four under 68.
