Australians dominate China Tour Q School

BY Bruce Young | 20 Mar 2014

At the halfway stage of the second China Tour’s Final Stage, Australians dominate the leaderboard with former Gold Coast but now US based Ray Beaufils ahead by one over a group of five players in a share of second position.

New South Wales’ Brett Drewitt, Victorians Bryden McPherson and Andrew Kelly, Vietnam’s Michael Tran and China’s Zhiqun Lam are the players tied for second, one ahead of West Australian Stephen Dartnall.

The leading twenty players at the completion of 72 holes join twenty others from an earlier Final Stage event as cardholders on the 2014 China Golf Tour to be run under the auspices of the USPGA Tour.

In the first year of the Tour the top 70 players from the 2013 Official CGA rankings will also receive exemptions for the Tour. Beyond that, fields will also include sponsor exemptions and Monday qualifiers, which will be open to international players, as well as opportunities for up to 10 players from each of the Web.com, NEC Series-PGA TOUR Latinoamérica and PGA TOUR Canada.

A total of twelve events will be played in 2014 for prize-money of US$200,000 each although at this stage only half of the schedule has been released.
