Garica stuns Kiwi Campbell with eagle

Spaniard Sergio Garcia has stunned New Zealand's Michael Campbell with a 90-foot chip in to reach the final of the World Match Play Championship at Wentworth Golf Club in England.

The superb shot gave Garcia an eagle at the 35th hole, and when Campbell failed to match him from 25 feet, Garcia claimed a 2 and 1 victory to make it into the 36-hole final against Ernie Els, who downed Fiji's Vijay Singh 3 and 2.

After a run of hard-fought wins over Nick Faldo and defending champion Ian Woosnam, Campbell looked set for another win in his debut appearance in the tournament when he led by three shots after just six holes.

Singh began his match with Els poorly, bogeying the first three holes to fall three behind, but had closed to within one after 15, only to lose the 17th and then fall three back again with another bogey at 19.

Els' lead was four when he birdied at 23, but Singh birdied the 26th and then got back within one hole when Els bogeyed 29 and 30, but after Els won the 31st to pull two ahead again he then moved comfortably into the 36-hole final with Garcia.

Semifinal Round
