Rising star Cortiz wins in Mexico

The El Bosque Mexico Championship was played this week and despite falling under the considerable shadow of the Masters the event has unearthed another future star in Carlos Ortiz.

The 22 year old won his second event of the 2014 Web.Com Tour season and guaranteed himself a PGA Tour career in 2015, if not earlier, with a two shot win over American Justin Thomas with a four shot gap back to a group of six players tied for 3rd including Australian Nathan Green.

Cameron Percy was one shot further back in a share of 9th.

Green had gone into the final round in a share of the lead with Ortiz but struggled during his final round, three bogeys over his closing six holes costing him any chance of his first victory in four years.
