The opening event of the inaugural China Golf Tour series has completed two rounds and 18 year old Korean golfer J.H.Wang has already opened up a massive eight shot lead at the Mission Hills Golf Club complex on Hainan Island.

Hwang, the world 689th ranked player, leads over Taiwan’s Sam Chien, who has played collegiate golf in the US and grew up in San Diego, China’s Tian Yuan and Brazilian Lucas Lee.

Hwang played the Asian Tour last year, lost his status but then regained it at the Tour School earlier this year but is taking advantage of the introduction of this new series of events to advance his cause and so far so good.

The best of the many Australasian players in the field at the halfway stage is Stephen Dartnall who is a massive nine shots from the lead but in a share of 5th position.

Raymond Beaufils and Alex Hawley are one shot further back, while Nick Gillespie, David Lutterus and Chris Campbell are in 10th position and ten shots from the lead.
