New San Francisco event for LPGA

BY Bruce Young | LPGA Tour | 2014 Swinging Skirts Classic | Preview | 23 Apr 2014

The LPGA Tour is in San Francisco this week for the inaugural staging of the Swinging Skirts Classic at the Lake Merced Golf Club adjacent to the famed Olympic Club and the TPC Harding Park.

The name of the event is based on the sponsor Swinging Skirts, a Taiwanese company, who role in the event also includes the co sanctioning of the tournament with the Taiwan LPGA.

Inbee Park, Suzann Pettersen, Stacy Lewis, Lydia Ko and Karrie Webb are all in the field, Webb still narrowly ahead on the 2014 money list over Anna Nordqvist.

Pettersen returns after an injury concern and her re-appearance is considered a significant boost for the LPGA Tour.

Australians in the field aside from Webb are Katherine Kirk, Lindsey Wright and Sarah Jane Smith.
