Fujita wins 16th Japan title Hendry 3rd

44 year old Hiroyuki Fujita today won his 16th Japan Tour title with a playoff victory over Korean Sang Hyun Park, the pair finishing one shot ahead of New Zealander Michael Hendry and Hideto Tanihara at the Tsuruya Open near Kobe.

Fujita bounced back from a double bogey at his 11th hole with three birdies in four holes after Park had eagled his 17th hole in a final round of 64 completed 45 minutes before Fujita staged his comeback.

Hendry, in his second season in Japan secured his best finish in that time when he reeled off four birdies in the last five holes after slipping well out of contention early in his final round.

Hendry now leads the Australasians in 7th position on the 2014 money list after three events.

Adam Bland was the leading Australian for the second week in succession when he finish 11th and moves to 10th on the money list.

Kurt Barnes was 49th this week, Brad Kennedy 52nd and Steven Jeffress 64th.

The Japan Tour now moves to the Crowns event in Nagoya.
