Victoria lead Men's Interstate Series

The first day of the Interstate Series has been completed at the Federal Golf Club and the Gungahlin Lakes Golf Clubs in Canberra.

The Men’s Interstate Series is being played at the Federal Golf Club and after day one only Victoria remains unbeaten in the opening rounds of the Round Robin series.

Although each team consists of eight players, only seven get to play in the Round Robin Series with the Finals on Friday involving all eight players.

After a comfortable victory over NSW in the morning round, Victoria took on the defending champions in their afternoon match up and, in what was a closer contest than the result would suggest, defeated the Victorians by 6 to 1 with five of the matches going to the final hole.

Victoria therefore lead the series with two points heading into day two when they will take on Western Australia.

WA, SA, QLD and NSW each have one point while Tasmania is without a point after losses to Queensland and WA.

In the Women’s event the strong Western Australia, along with Queensland and NSW, won both their encounters with Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania without points after two rounds.

Individual match results may be required to decide the finalists at the completion of the Round Robin Series on Thursday.
