Queensland Sunshine Tour underway in PNG

BY Bruce Young | 01 May 2014

The opening event of the 2014 Queensland Sunshine Tour began today in Morobe in Papua New Guinea when the A$110,000 Coca Cola Morobe Open got underway at the Lae Golf Club.

The leader after day one is Queenslander Brett Rankin whose opening round of 66 leaves him one ahead of fellow Queenslander Matt Ballard.

Queenslanders Heath Reed and Michael Hansen along with South Australian Tom Bond are one shot further back.

The event heralds the start of a Tour which, after two weeks in Papua New Guinea, travels throughout regional and metropolitan Queensland over the next six months and which incorporates more than fifty events ranging in value from $10,000 to $200,000.
