WA easy winners at Women's Interstate

On paper it appeared like it might be a tight contest at the Women’s Interstate Final between Western Australia and NSW at the Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club near Canberra this morning but it turned into a rout for the ladies from the West, the Sandgropers winning 5 to 1 and securing the Gladys Hay Memorial Cup

Only Celina Yuan could muster a point for the NSW side when she defeated Claudia Pisano but with three of Australia’s leading five ranked players Minjee Lee, Hannah Green and Hayley Bettencourt, leading the way the West Australians were never in danger.

It was just the third occasion in the last four stagings of the event where Western Australia has won.

In the Consolation Final Queensland defeated Victoria by 3½ to 2½.
