Sarah Jane Smith earns best LPGA finish

Queensland’s Sarah Jane Smith has produced her best ever finish on the LPGA Tour with a tie for second at the Kingsmill Championship at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg in Virginia.

The 29 year old Smith tied with Lexi Thompson and a resurgent Yani Tseng four shots adrift of the first time winner, Lizette Salas, Smith recording a final round of 66 to better her previous best of 6th on the LPGA Tour set eighteen months ago.

Smith will earn US$90,500 for her efforts.

Lydia Ko was 5th and Katherine Kirk 18th after beginning the final round in a share of 3rd position.
