Gavin Coles has finished 7th behind American Max Homa at the BMW Charity Pro Am event in Greer in South Carolina.

The top ten comes off the back of four consecutive missed cuts as the 45 year old chases a return to the PGA Tour.

Coles, a five time winner on the Web.Com Tour, played the PGA Tour in 2003, 2005 and 2007, 2008 and 2012, earning nearly US$3 million in career earnings in the US.

One of the shorter hitters on either the PGA or Web.Com Tour, Coles’ persistence has carried him a long way and this week’s effort will see him advance to 45h on the money list.

The winner of the event, Homa, a Walker Cup player in 2013, recorded a final round of 63 to win the US$117,000 and advance to 9th on the money list.

Nick O’Hern, Aron Price, Steve Alker and Peter Lonard were other Australasians to make the cut but finished well back.
