Brad Kennedy defends Kansai Open

BY Bruce Young | Japan Tour | 2014 Kansai Open Golf Championship | Preview | 20 May 2014

One of the lesser events on the Japan Golf Tour, the Kansai Open is played this week at the Rokko Country Club in Hyogo Prefecture, the event carrying the second smallest purse on the 2014 Japan Golf Tour.

A reasonable field has been assembled however as after a two week break the Japan Tour players are keen to get back into action ahead of several significantly more lucrative events including next week’s Gateway to the Mizuno Open which acts as a pre qualifier for the Open Championship.

Queenslander Brad Kennedy defends the title he won last year and with a much improved week at the recent Crowns event Kennedy has a good chance to contend again.

Other Australasians in the field are Steve Jeffress, Aaron Townsend, who finished 4th in the event last year, David Smail, Richard Tate, Stephen Leaney, Matthew Guyatt, Steve Conran, Adam Bland, Kurt Barnes and Michael Hendry.
