Drakeford leads Scottish Stroke Play

BY Bruce Young | 01 Jun 2014

Victorian golfer Geoff Drakeford leads the Scottish Stroke Play Championship at the Panmure Golf Club near Carnoustie, a second round of 69 by the Commonwealth Golf Club golfer enough to keep the national representative two shots clear of the field.

Drakeford’s opening round of 65 gave him an early one shot lead but his nearest rival after day one, Nick Stuart of England, could only manage a 74 today and it would be Scotland’s Scott Gibson, Welshman Rhys Pugh and England’s Ryan Evans who are now his closest challengers.

South Australian Anthony Murdaca is the next best Australian and the only other to make the cut in a share of 8th position although six shots behind.
