Victorian, Geoff Drakeford, the only remaining Australian at the British Amateur Championship, has bowed out in the round of 32, going down by two holes to the Frenchman Leonard Bem.

Drakeford was two up early in his match but essentially lost control of the match with bogeys at the 10th and 11th to go two down and although he kept fighting and reduced the deficit to one when he birdied the 17th, Bem’s birdie saw him the victor.

Earlier NSW’s Cameron Davis had been knocked out in the elimination round of match play to determine the top 64.
