Bernhard Langer has birdied the second extra hole of a playoff against Jeff Sluman to win the Champions Tour’s Constellation Players Championship at the Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh.

For Langer, who had won twenty Champions Tour titles, this was his first victory in what is one of that Tour’s flagship events.

It was Langer’s 21st victory on the Champions Tour and took his earnings on that Tour to nearly US$14.5 million.

Sluman, the 1988 PGA Champion, produced a round of 65 to make up five shots on Langer as he attempted to win his 7th Champions Tour title. It was not to be but it continues a good season where he had already been a winner and runner-up.

Peter Senior and Peter Fowler tied for 39th.
