Michael Cromie wins North and South Am

North Carolina’s Michael Cromie has won the North and South Amateur Championship defeating Canadian Corey Connors 4&3 in the final at Pinehurst No 8.

The 22 year old Cromie will finish his time at the University of Georgia later this year and turn professional but he is slowly building an impressive list of victories in amateur events.

Cromie had previously won the North and South Junior Championship.

Sydney left hander Jarrod Freeman was the only Australian to qualify for the match play phase but was Cromie’s first round victim. Freeman did not disgrace himself however fighting back from a four hole deficit to lose at the 17th hole 2 & 1.
