Three Australians have made it through to the leading 64 qualifiers at this year’s US Junior Amateur Championship at the Woods at Carlton Course in Woodlands near Houston.

Last week’s Callaway World Junior Champion, Ryan Ruffels of Victoria shared 6th position at the end of 36 holes, West Australian Curtis Luck was tied for 9th and Wodonga’s (Victoria) Zach Murray was in a share of 18th.

Ruffels takes on Andreas Halvorsen of Norway, Luck, who recorded a superb second round of 66, tackles Spencer Ralston of Georgia and Murray played Bryson Rimmer of North Carolina.

The trio have a chance to become the first Australian to win the event.

Previous winners include Tiger Woods and more recently Jordan Spieth.
