Aussies stumble at International Crown

The Australian team has struggled on day two of the International Crown teams matches at the Caves Valley Golf Club in Owens Mills in Maryland, the fourball combinations of Karrie Webb and Minjee Lee along with Katherine Kirk and Lindsey Wright only able to secure a halved match between them in their encounter with the Japan side.

Wright and Kirk were cruising in their match when they went 6 up through 11 holes before imploding over the closing stages of their match.

They lost six of their final seven holes to square the match but that lost point could prove very expensive as they now share third position with Sweden in their pool and would appear to need to win both matches against Sweden tomorrow to be assured of advancing to the Finals on Sunday.

Webb and Lee lost their match against Mamiko Higa and Mika Miyazato 3&2 after impressing in their opening day encounter against the Koreans.

Two teams from each pool moved through to Sunday with a playoff between the third placed teams in both pools for a fifth to make it to the final day.

Thailand lead the USA in Pool A while in Pool B Japan is a surprise leader over Korea.
