Concord Golf Club (Sydney) golfer Shelley Shin has bowed out in the semi finals of the US Girl’s Junior Amateur Championship at Flagstaff in Arizona.

It was a great effort by Shin who was forced to recover from an opening round of 77 in the qualifying rounds just to make the match play but once she had she reeled off several impressive victories.

Shin went down to Marijosse Navarro in an incredibly tight semi final after being 2 up with five to play.

Shin fell victim to birdies by the Mexican at the 14th and 16th and when they both parred the par five 18th it was into extra time which was finally ended when Navarro eagled the par five third hole.

Two years ago West Australian Minjee Lee won the event.
